Following is a summery
of five (5) key insights derived from a 9 day meditation and discourse on
Tibetan Perspectives of Mind/Reality experienced during February 2001 in
Bhodgaya, India. These insights are supporting the development of Wisdom
Technologies through the Transcendigital domain.
1) The fundamental root
of personal and collective states of affliction is due to a "mistaken" dualistic
perception of Reality. In coming to fully know the truest essence of our
Mind/Reality, a profound realization of the intrinsic interdependence of
all things becomes apparent--thus increasing our capacity to be involved
in more sensitive interactions with ourselves and our environment. It is
our responsibility to cultivate such a perception within ourselves, as well
as support the emergence of such a perception within the collective. Thus,
the most immediate task within the scope of our priorities to "save the
world" is the radical education and facilitation of the process of realizing
non-dualistic and interdependent perspectives of reality to ourselves and
our children.
2) To develop a "correct"
and permanent perception of non-dualistic, interdependent Reality involves
an in-depth process of modulation between both conceptual and perceptual
modes of coming to know Mind/Reality. Conceptual knowing comes about through
a sustained comprehensive process (such as in reading books, examining diagrams,
participating in dialogues, etc.)--and results in a general cognitive knowing
of the structure of Mind/Reality. Perceptual knowing comes about through
a direct experience (such as in meditation or experimentation)--and results
in an undoubtable personal knowing of Mind/Reality. While perceptual knowing
is the absolute "correct" way to know true Mind/Reality--our capability
for maintaining such a direct perception is inherently supported by a strong
conceptual knowing of Mind/Reality. The path toward realizing ÒenlightenmentÓ
(and thus becoming liberated beyond the cycles of ignorance and suffering)
is a continual process of refining and interacting these two modes of knowing--until
a permanent and absolutely direct experience of non-dualistic, interdependent
Mind/Reality is realized.
3) Although Eastern
and Western cultures have extremely different methods of actualizing the
conceptual/perceptual process toward realizing the true nature of Mind/Reality--our
conclusions are amazingly similar. In traditional Eastern culture, a conceptual/perceptual
process toward truth is directed through morality-based, spiritually-oriented,
comprehensive exercises combined with direct meditation and contemplation--toward
knowing what the Buddhists call "dependent arising." In modern
Western culture, the conceptual/perceptual process toward truth is directed
through progress-based, scientifically oriented, analytical study combined
with direct experimentation--toward knowing what the physicists call "quantum
reality." Both Eastern and Western ideological conceptions (i.e., Buddhist
and Quantum Physical) suggest a non-dualistic, interdependent Reality--yet,
each cultureÕs direct experience and application of this conclusion is vastly
different.
4) Through combining
Eastern and Western methods of coming to know true Mind/Reality, we may
develop an enhanced conceptual/perceptual system to facilitate a cross-cultural
realization of non-dualistic, inter dependent reality--greatly assisting
in abating much of our shared global afflictions. In utilizing advanced
information technologies based upon a solid moral foundation--we may powerfully
represent the interconnections between various Eastern and Western ideologies
(spiritual traditions, myths, sciences, and other conceptual models of Mind/Reality).
Through such a system, we may 1) assist in preserving the ideological diversity
within various cultural traditions, 2) provide unique instruction into specific
cultural ideologies, 3) promote the realization of the intrinsic similarities
and interconnections between various cultural ideologies, 4) exemplify the
concept of interdependent, non-dualistic reality through the cross-cultural
comparison of universal truth, and 5) induce the emergence of a Universal
Language of Consilience to support a developing collective perception
of non-dualistic, interdependent Mind/Reality.
5) Wisdom
Technologies are the functional tools and methods of actualizing this
system. Through the implementation of Wisdom Technologies, Transcendigital
will offer opportunities for people to experience data evolving into information
evolving into knowledge evolving into wisdom. Wisdom Technologies are the
synergistic convergence of Eastern and Western, traditional and modern,
organic and digital, "inner" and "outer" methods of
transforming our awareness toward an expanded realization of the interconnections
that constitutes our world. In applying the advents of information technology
as advanced tools of conceptualization, and in offering a vast network of
opportunities to catalyze direct experiences of inter-connectedness--a system
may emerge to facilitate the realization of non-dualistic, interdependent
reality. Ultimately, Wisdom Technologies will inform, involve, and inspire
people toward a unique transformational experience into awakening.
